FOLLATON

A music band that seeks to revive the folk music of French-speaking Switzerland, arranging it in a modern style, but staying in the field of acoustic instruments.

In the folk tradition of the latin Alps (Lake Geneva, Chablais, Valais, Val d’Aoste…), the Follaton is a kind of playful spirit that loves pranks, such as raising ladies’ skirts, curdle the milk… but if one smiles of its pranks, and put a saucer of dried fruits for it to eat, it can become helpful and clean the stable…

Following Bands such as Bazoche, Montferrine, or Filigrane, Follaton finds its music in manuscripts, old recordings, collections such as that of O. Held or A. Gos. We also play and sing songs of the tradition, and more contemporary compositions. Arrangements reflect the different influences and musical experiences of Follaton’s members: Scottish, Irish, Klezmer, and of course the Alps : Switzerland, Savoie, Italy…
