CHEMIN DE FER

We at Feufliâzhe really love Chemin de Fer! And so we are very pleased that the group is returning, after five years, for a bal folk. Plus, they are coming in company with the Duo Faravelli-Burrone who will add to the quality and the variety of the music.

(See the page about the duo.)

The three members of this group know such a lot of traditional tunes, and they are used to playing with many other groups. One or other of the three are also members of Trouveur Valdotèn, Harmoniraptus, Orage, Pitularita, and so on… Heavens, even Jean-Marc Jacquier is pleased that they are coming; perhaps he too will play with them!

Chemin de Fer was formed with the object of conserving the traditional melodies. Ultimately, the aim of their work is not only to produce beautiful sound, but also to capture the irresistible rhythms of the dance, so that both dancers and musicians can enjoy themselves.

Their CD Occident Express gained Chemin de Fer the independent Italian Prix de la Musique Populaire Italienne in the category best traditional production. Chemin de Fer won the 2011 competition for emerging Italian artists Folkontest, which resulted in their being invited to the Festival Interceltique de Lorient. And now our three musicians travel throughout Europe and also to Canada, from festival to festival – such as Ététrad, the Gran Bal Trad, the Grand Bal de l'Europe, Fira Mediterrània, Trentino Girofolk, the Festival of Minority Peoples, and so on….

And, the cherry on the cake: Mathieu et Fernando intend, with Cristina Peron (daughter of Silvio – yes ideed!) to present for experienced dancers a workshop of dances of the Italian Vallées Occitannes on Saturday morning (you will need to register).

In addition, Rémy will conduct a music workshop playing arrangements of Alpine music; this will be open to players of all instruments.
